Chemical Peels Q & A

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a treatment that greatly enhances skin appearance. The most popular area for a chemical peel is the face, but you can also have peels on your neck and even your hands.

During a chemical peel, your Hamptons Medical Associates care provider applies the treatment solution to your skin and this triggers exfoliation of dead skin over time. New skin cells emerge, replacing the old skin, creating a smoother, fresher complexion.

Hamptons Medical Associates exclusively uses the Jan Marini peel system and is one of the leading Jan Marini providers in the state of Florida.

What is the Transform peel?

The Transform peel is an all-around skin rejuvenation chemical peel. It includes multiple highly-concentrated acids for powerful skin resurfacing. The Transform peel also includes retinol, peptides, and antioxidants to enhance skin appearance.

The acids included in the Transform peel are lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol. The retinol activator is all-trans-retinol, and the anti-aging peptides include green tea extract, chrysin, alpha bisabolol, and NHS. The Transform peel can work for all skin types, including normal, oily, dry, sensitive, and acne-prone.

What is the Clarify peel?

The Clarify peel is great for anyone who wants dramatically improved skin texture. The acids in the Clarify peel include salicylic acid and mandelic acid. The retinol activator is all-trans-retinol, and the anti-aging peptides are green tea extract, chrysin, alpha bisabolol, and NHS.

The Clarify peel is safe for normal, oily, dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin.

What is the Refine peel?

The Refine peel is a good option if you want to have a milder peel without significant downtime. The acids in the Refine peel include lactic acid, salicylic acid, and citric acid and the retinol activator is all-trans-retinol.

Included anti-aging peptides are: green tea extract, chrysin, alpha bisabolol, and NHS. The Refine peel is safe for any skin type, including oily, dry, sensitive, acne-prone, and normal.

What is the recovery like after a chemical peel?

Chemical peel recovery depends on the strength of the peel you choose. For example, the Refine peel has no downtime since it’s a milder peel. With mild peels, your skin can stop peeling within as little as a day, and you can wear makeup the next day.

For medium or deep peels, recovery can take as long as 2-3 weeks, but they can yield truly dramatic results. Your skin may peel for 7-14 days, and you’ll follow a special regimen during that time. You may need to take antiviral medicine for up to two weeks after your peel, and you’ll use a thick moisturizer to encourage healing for at least two weeks. It’s important that you avoid sun exposure during this time. If you do go out in the sun, it’s recommended to put on SPF 30 or more.
